Famed film and television producer Howard Rosenman (Father of the Bride, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Oscar-winning Common Threads) will bring his seminar "The Hollywood Sell," an inside look at producing for the screen, to Memphis as a part of a weekend of events spotlighting his legendary career in show business.
Presented by Indie Memphis and the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission / Memphis ED and sponsored by the Memphis College of Art and the Peabody Hotel, Rosenman's producing seminar is open to the public on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in the Memphis College of Art’s Callicott Auditorium (Rust Hall in Overton Park), from 11 am to 2:30 pm.
The seminar covers "how to get a movie on," focusing on the skills of pitching, packaging and virtually every step in the life of a movie project. Rosenman will give attendees a true inside look at the realities of producing for the big screen, and audience members will even have a chance to pitch to him and get a live critique during the seminar.
When crafting this seminar, Rosenman draws on his vast teaching experiences including his current post as an Adjunct Professor at USC's Stark Producing Program and his past producing workshops at the American Film Institute, UCLA, Columbia, Brandeis, Yale, NYU, Emerson, Tel Aviv University and his alma mater Brooklyn College. He will give some inside scoop on his current slate including the upcoming remake of his first film SPARKLE by Sony Pictures.
"This seminar is perfect for up-and-coming filmmakers, students or anyone who loves film and TV and wants to know the next step in how to take their ideas and develop films from them," says Rosenman, who has brought "The Hollywood Sell" already to Omaha, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Los Angeles with upcoming engagements in Denver, Austin, San Francisco, Johannesburg & Capetown, South Africa and Jerusalem, Israel.
