2013 Indie Bikes

Indie Memphis is proud to present an opportunity to enjoy the festival and the surrounding community in a new way – by bike.

Co-sponsored by Revolutions Memphis and organized by volunteers, IndieBikes is a grassroots, Memphis-style bike share concept that loans free bicycles to festival participants who wish to travel between film venues and experience Memphis without their cars. Participants may “check out” loaner bikes for up to three hours at a time and will be given maps of the surrounding neighborhoods highlighting restaurants, bike lanes and trails, parks and other amenities.

Visit the Indie Memphis Central Box Office at 49 S. Cooper (next to the Circuit Playhouse) during the hours listed below, sign up for the free program, select your bike, and promise to bring it back on time. Bike locks and lights will be provided.

If you prefer to keep a bike for the entire festival, The Peddler Bike Shop will offer longer-term rental bikes that you make use for the duration of the festival.

If you get a flat tire, forget the combination to your bike lock, or have other troubles, call the Indie Bikes hotline at 901-484-6364 and we’ll make sure you’re not stranded.

Please tweet about your experience: #IndieBikes. We’ll also ask you to fill out a short survey when you return your bike, so we know how to improve the program in the future.

The IndieBikes were built by volunteers from Revolutions using donated and reclaimed parts. After the festival is over, they will be donated to individuals through the Revolutions Annual Holiday Recycled Bicycle Giveaway. They will be temporary branded as IndieBikes during the festival with artwork by Memphis College of Art students.
